Schindler Chief Digital Officer Michel Nilles Joins IOTA Foundation

May 13, 2018 (datsyn.com) – Michel Nilles, Chief Digital Officer of the Swiss elevator manufacturer Schindler, has joined the IOTA Foundation, IOTA founder David Sønstebø announced on May 10 in a blog post on Medium.

What role Nilles will play in the IOTA Foundation was not shared by Sønstebø in his announcement. As with previous members, it should be a purely advisory activity in which Nilles brings its expertise in the industrial sector. With regard to his accession, Nilles is quoted in the following general words.

“Today, the Industrial Internet of Things is very powerful within individual industries, but there is a lack of a decentralized and trusted machine-to-machine transactional layer to fully leverage cross-industry ecosystems. Tomorrow’s smart city, for example, will require the bridging of autonomous mobility and smart buildings. IOTA, with its Tangle-based Distributed Ledger technology, is well positioned to fill this gap. “

Prior to joining Schindler, Nilles held several management positions at Mannesmann and Bosch Rexroth and is currently also a member of the Lufthansa Supervisory Board. As Sønstebø points out, Nilles worked for Bosch Rexroth as Chief Information Officer on the complete digitization of the value chain. The IT manager originally started his career at SAP as a software developer.

The IOTA Foundation, which enjoys numerous collaborations with companies and research institutes, such as the RWTH Aachen, has recently made headlines, especially with reports of intimidation attempts by critical researchers. At the end of April it became known that the Center for Blockchain Technologies at University College London has therefore ceased collaborating with the IOTA Foundation.
